This end of year 2010 report by Fur Commission USA discusses fur trends in recent years. Worldwide, fur production and demand is increasing, with an increase in fur production in the United States projected to rise 21.4%. The article provides trend data in terms of value and amount of production internationally.

Report Highlights:
- "The total crop [in 2010] is forecast at 50.48 million pelts, up 8.5% from 2009, but short of the all-time record of 55.79 million produced in 2007."
- "As a share of the global supply, Denmark is expected to provide 27.7%, followed by China (23.8%), the Netherlands (9.5%), Poland (8.5%), and the US (6.7%)."
- China's pelt production exploded from producing 3.3 million pelts in 2000 to 18 million in 2007. In 2009, production was down to 9 million but it expected to be about 12 million pelts in 2011.
- In 1989 there were 940 fur farms in the United States. In 2009 the number of farms was 278, an increase of 4 farms over the previous year.
- "The average price for individual American pelts also rose, to $65.10 from $41.60 the year before. This was just 60 cents shy of the record of $65.70 set in 2008."
- In all, the 2009 "crop" of pelts made a record high of $185.9 million.
